Final post of the year...

2017 ends in less than 6 hours...

Admittedly I'd like to dress up and drink till midnight but at the moment I feel to gross to finish off one beer. I also feel like there is a tennis ball in my ear. I want to listen to my mum's Beatles record of love songs but I wont be able to hear it so there's no point.

I wouldn't normally reflect like this on anything but I wanted to take a few minutes to write about 2017.

2017 has been different, it's been good, interesting, inspiring and something else.  I've had a great year for meeting new people and working with new people. I feel privileged to know the people I know and to learn from them. Next year the first half will be my last months in my 20's, the rest will be... older. Not exactly where student Sophie thought she'd be down the line.

As always I'll keep making art and try to post more on social media such as the F's, T's & I's of the online world. I'll also question if it's worth it, if I should just pack it in, take some time off, jump off a cliff and earn some money because that's what most people value you you on. Money, how much you earn what you own. Do you sell your art? I'll also realise that this is what I do and I doubt I'll change or stop but make more art.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to anyone & everyone

embrace the loser within you, if you don't who else will!

What Have I Been Doing?

Over the past week I've been researching Burnley Mechanics thanks to Library Manger Kit and everyone at BurnleyLibrary. Including local historian Ken Spencer who has been a fantastic help.
What have I been researching Burnley Mechanics for?
As part of the #BurnleyCreativeAlliance Development Project run by Burnley Leisure, funded by Arts Council England through Grants for the Arts. I will be creating new work in response to the history of Burnley and the Mechanics building.

Fortune Fish Print

Signed Limited Edition Fortune Fish prints available online at Etsy:

Throwback Thursday

Whilst developing my art at PAPER Gallery last year over a period of 12 months I took with me an expired disposable camera.

This is a snap of Fortune Fish at the cutting mat. Whilst I was there I made significant pieces of artwork from a theme I continue to develop.

Thanks again PAPER Gallery for the opportunity. I enjoyed talking to other artists and thinking about my own art and the way I work.

Micro Commission

For my Micro Commission exploring Burnley and the Mechanics building I have been enjoying looking through old programs.

I especially like the different logos that evolve over time.

Film Photos

I love my Canon camera, a gift from my parents on my 18th Birthday. At first I wasn't impressed with the way it looked, I thought it was ugly but, eleven years later and now splattered in paint it's my number one shooter.
