Prague & Andy

I recently went to Prague and came across an Andy Warhol exhibition curated by his brother. It was great, very different from the rest. Sometimes you can see the same Warhol exhibition in different venues not be incredibly fulfilled.

Here's my first full frontal print image. After weeks/months of printing here's something from one of the sets I have so far created.

I'm very much printing in a world of my own so who knows what anyone will think....

Thursday night was Art Night in Manchester!

Yesterday I had a look at two exhibition previews including Castlefield Gallery. Here's some snaps but you had to be there!

Printing 1-2-19

I've posted this image on I don't know how many different social media platforms. I took this whilst printing the second round of Notes on Friday the 1st of February.

As usual I packed my digital camera and as usual I hadn't charged it and the battery went. These photos were taken on my instant camera. So this post is about things I'm fond of: printing + actual photos.

Exhibition Visit

Whilst spending time in Salford printing at Hot Bed Press I've also been visiting galleries in the area... 

Here's a few snaps from my visit to The John Rylands Library a couple of weeks ago. This is somewhere I've visited before but not recently. 

I was really pleased to see the 'Women who shaped Manchester' exhibition. I also spent sometime looking into medieval manuscripts which will certainly influence my design ideas and be useful for current work that I'm developing. 

Spotting the letterpress set up was a bonus after recently completing a letterpress course (I must go back to see the demonstration!).

My favourite piece in the #jrlWomen exhibition has to be the Freedom of the City of Manchester scroll, presented to Enriqueta Rylands, the first freewoman of the City of Manchester.

Letterpress Printing

For over the past month I have been learning new printing skills in the form of letterpress. 

I have just one more workshop to go before I can show off the end results. In the meantime look out for my first month of DYCP in photos in my next blog post or, find me online @iamsophiegibson.
